WHO WILL CRY WHEN YOU DIE- ROBIN SHARMA

“When you were born, you cried while the world rejoiced. Live your life in such a way that when you die, the world cries while you rejoice.”
                      -  Ancient Sanskrit Saying

I am overwhelmed with emotions as I sit here, typing out the review for this iconic book, that has so much to do with the person I am today. This book was a gift to my dad, who then passed it on to me and my sister, as I still remember him teaching us, what this book taught him. I have read this book about 3-4 times in the course of 1 year now but I still distinctly remember what it felt like when I picked it up the first time. ‘Who Will Cry When You Die’ was the first book that I ever read. And as you can see, it has also made me an avid reader since.

In the book, the phenomenal author has compiled life lessons in 101 chapters. All of these written in a very concise and a beautiful manner. These chapters are simply tips and tricks that one could instill in their daily life so as to start living fuller and healthier. All the chapters include inputs by different authors, some holding an expertise in the field, Robin Sharma’s favorite quotes that he rightly believes are ‘life’s wisdom in a sentence’, and the deep values imbibed in him by his family and friends.

What I personally felt while reading the book is that most of the chapters just couldn’t be put together in a better way. The simplicity with which the author explains the lessons made me feel that is was actually possible to adopt these principles in life. And I did. And I couldn’t be more grateful. Unlike his work in ‘The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari’, this book does not contain a fictional story backing it. Because of this, the entire book felt like a one-to-one conversation with the author who simply strives to make the reader a better and more effective person.

'Every day, be kind to a stranger', 'Honor your past', 'Learn to be silent', 'Keep your cool', 'Increase your value' are some of the many lessons that are worth every second of your time. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a good read, or just a book that teaches you what life is really about.

Asked in an interview what his biggest regret in life was, talk show superstar Larry King replied, “I should have been rooted in the great books.”
